U16 Prep Win Monctonian Challenge

11/18/2024

Congratulations to the U16 Prep boys who won their division at the Monctonian Challenge in Moncton, New Brunswick!

The team was a perfect 5-0 en route to their second straight tournament title! They were in Kingston, Ontario two weeks ago where they came out on top of the U16 AAA division.

The boys went 3-0 in the Round Robin, taking down the Cape Breton Jets 4-1, the Moncton Thunderbirds 4-3 in overtime and Dartmouth Voyageurs 4-1.

This set up a semi-final with the undefeated Eastern Dukes, where the boys would win 2-1 in overtime with Gordie Hester getting the winner.

The finals would have the boys taking on the Western Rebels. It was a tight checking and penalty filled game but Tobias Lednicky would pot the game winner in the 3rd and the boys would take it 2-1. Ivan Izotov was in goal for the finals and even assisted on the game winner to cap his weekend off.

Whether it’s holding onto a lead or mounting a 3 goal comeback like in Kingston, these boys have proven they can deliver in big moments and pressure filled games.

Tobias Lednicky tied for the tournament lead in scoring with 8 points (2g, 6a) in 5 games and Andrei Chumakov led the tournament in goals with 6 and added an assist across 5 games.

The boys will be looking to make it three in a row when they head to Waterloo, Ontario for the Gold Puck Tournament from December 13th-15th.
