Our elite training program at CIH Academy uses the latest techniques to develop players’ skills. Our intensive training regimen includes on-ice practices four to five times per week (depending on the schedule of games), along with off-ice workouts that focus on conditioning and improving both body and mind.
On-Ice Training
Under the guidance of our coaches and trainers, players at CIH Academy develop the following skills and techniques:
- individual offensive skills
- team play and systems
- passing and variations
- stick-handling in a range of directions
- speed and agility
- attacking the defensive player, triangle attacks, faking, and speed shifts
- power-skating using acceleration skating techniques and edge control
- receiving and giving body checks
- position-specific training
- creative thinking using small-area games
- video analysis for individual skills and team play
Off-Ice Training
At our beautiful outdoor campus and in our state-of-the-art fitness centre, players participate in complete off-ice training using the latest techniques to maximize their physical and mental strength.
Our off-ice training integrates:
- specific acceleration/deceleration and power systems to promote maximum speed and efficiency on and off the ice
- performance fundamentals such as strength and stability, agility and mobility training, stick handling, body awareness training and video analysis feedback
- instruction on forming sound nutrition habits
- presentations from consultants and guest speakers on the importance of such topics as: food and supplementation; motivation; mental skills training; college vs. junior programs; agent selection; etc.
This comprehensive training program delivers premier hockey development to serious players, preparing them for success in life as well as on the ice.
