U16 Prep Win Kingston Fall Bash
10/30/2024Congratulations to our U16 Prep team who won the Kingston Fall Bash Tournament!
The boys went 4-1-1, including a dramatic comeback in the finals. They are also back to back champions with our U16 Prep team winning this tournament last year.
After four round robin games, the boys were 2-1-1 with wins over Ted Reeve and Kingston, a loss to Syracuse and a tie vs Rochester.
They would advance to the semi-finals against Buffalo where the game would be 0-0 and we would need a shootout to decide things. Ivan Izotov stopped all four shooters while Matteo Arriaga scored the lone goal and game winner, securing a spot in the finals.
That would set up a rematch vs Syracuse which the team lost to 5-4 in the round robin. After the 1st period, the boys would be down 4-1 and things weren’t looking good.
Cue the comeback.
Connor Welsh scored the lone 2nd period goal to make it 4-2 and then Leo Stretti, Kenshin Saito and Tobias Lednicky would all add goals in the 3rd period while Ivan Izotov shut the door the rest of the way to secure the victory.
Leading scorers across 6 games were Connor Welsh (6g, 2a), Tobias Lednicky (4g, 4a) and Oliver Matthewman (3g, 2a), while Ivan Izotov went 3-0-1 with a 1.73 GAA.
Well done to these boys who never gave up and are the Kings of Kingston!
