Alum Sam Wathier Selected to USNTDP Evaluation Camp
03/14/2024Congratulations to alum Sam Wathier, who was selected to attend the United States National Team Development Program (USNTDP) Evaluation Camp!
The Evaluation Camp will take place from March 19th-23rd at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan. The camp features USA’s top 47 skaters born in 2008, including 26 forwards, 16 defensemen and 5 goaltenders. 22 players will then be selected to play on their U17 team for the 2024-2025 season.
The goal of the Development Program is to prepare student-athletes under the age of 18 for participation on USA National Teams and success in their future hockey careers.
Alum Dylan Peterson was a part of the USNTDP 2018-2020 and is currently in his 4th season at NCAA Division I Boston University.
Sam, a 6’2 defenseman had a strong season for the Eastern Ontario Wild U16 AAA. He had 3 goals and 11 assists in 30 regular season games.
To be considered among the top 16, 2008 born defensemen among all USA skaters is a huge honour and an accomplishment Sam should be proud of.
Sam attended CIHA in the 2021-2022 season and was as underage player for our U15 AAA team. He also has strong hockey bloodlines as his father Francis played 10 games in the NHL for the Dallas Stars and 577 games in the AHL. Francis was also a part of our coaching staff and development team from 2016-2019 and 2021-2022.
We want to wish Sam the best of luck at the Evaluation Camp and in his future hockey career!
