
Four Alumni Drafted into the Canadian Hockey League
06/09/2026Congratulations to Greyson Peel (Quebec Maritime Junior Hockey League), Maveric Thisdelle (Quebec Maritime Junior Hockey League), Alex Beaupre (Ontario Hockey League), and Jacob Kirstein (Ontario Hockey League) who were selected to their respective leagues in the Canadian Hockey League.
Greyson was selected by the Gatineau Olympiques of the QMJHL in the 7th round, 109th overall. Greyson, a 6’2 defenseman just completed his second season at CIHA where he was Captain of our U16 Prep team. They competed in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League’s Eastern U17 Prep Division.
Greyson tied for his team’s lead in points with 15 and led the team in assists with 10 in 23 games.
In the 2024-2025 season, Greyson played for our U16 Prep team as an underage player picking up 4 points in 22 games.
Maveric was drafted by the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL in the 2nd round, 25th overall. Maveric, a 6’0 forward and attended CIHA for one season in 2022-2023 and was a part of our Development Program before moving on to other AAA hockey programs.
Alex was selected by the Niagara Ice dogs of the OHL in the 1st round, 9th overall in their U18 Priority Selection. Alex is a 6’2 goaltender who played one season at CIHA in the 2024-2025 season for our U17 Prep team and then played for his local team this year.
Jacob was drafted by the Owen Sound Attack of the OHL in the 2nd round, 28th overall in their U18 Priority Selection. Jacob is also a goaltender, standing at 6’4. Jacob just completed his first season at CIHA for our U18 Prep team.
The OHL U18 Priority Selection is 3 rounds and is open to 2008-2009’s who played in Ontario this year.
The Canadian Hockey League is a Tier I Junior League across Canada consisting of the Quebec Maritime Junior League, the Ontario Hockey League and the Western Hockey League.
