CIHA Alumni Gabriel Vilardi is a top prospect for the upcoming 2017 NHL Draft, and is primed to be our first student to be drafted by an NHL team
Vilardi, drafted 2nd overall in the 2015 OHL Draft created a buzz recently by being named OHL Player of the Week and CHL Player of the Week, finishing with 9 points in 3 games. He is currently 2nd on his team in scoring with 59 points in 43 games, and 1st with 28 goals.Vilardi is also getting plenty of recognition from news outlets such as NHL.com, The Hockey News, Sportsnet and TSN. NHL Central Scouting has him ranked 3rd among North American skaters, while many other mock drafts have him pegged as a top 5 pick for the 2017 NHL Draft. This year’s Memorial Cup will be hosted by Windsor, which gives Vilardi’s Spitfires automatic entry into the tournament that takes place in May. Vilardi will be crucial to his team’s success, while giving him one final chance to show why he is among the top prospects for the 2017 NHL Draft and will be CIHA’s first NHL draft pick.
