CIHA ALUM WINS USHL CHAMPIONSHIP
05/24/2017Congratulations to Corson Green of the Chicago Steel on winning the Clark Cup Championship in the United States Hockey League (USHL).
Green’s Chicago Steel defeated the Sioux City Musketeers 2-1 in overtime on Tuesday night to win the best of 5 series and the Championship. A defenceman from Potsdam, New York, Green played at CIHA during the 2014-2015 season putting up 24 points in 25 games in the Minor Midget Division, and 3 points in 6 games in Major Midget. Green was a top defenceman at CIHA who thrived on the powerplay and also finished every check. Green was drafted 101st overall by the Sault St. Marie Greyhounds in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection, but decided to play in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) where he climbed the ranks and played in their top tier by the end of the 2015-2016 season. This season he joined the Chicago Steel of the USHL which is a Tier I Junior League in the United States where he had 15 points in 48 games and 3 points while playing in all 14 playoff games. Green has verbally accepted an athletic scholarship to the University of New Hampshire starting in the fall of 2018.According to scouting reports, Green, at 6’3 and over 200 pounds has all the tools to be a top defenceman in all situations and has shown that at every level he’s played so far. He is a C-rated prospect and potential late round pick for the 2017 NHL Draft.
