GULL SELECTED AS TOP 30 ABORGINAL HOCKEY PLAYER
05/12/2017Congratulations to River Gull who has been selected as one of the top 30 Aboriginal hockey players in Canada (ages 16-18).
River has a unique opportunity ahead of him as he gets to participate in a TV series and hockey camp called Hit the Ice. The camp takes place in Winnipeg from July 15th-August 4th. Like any training camp, cuts will be made a few days in and the rest of the prospects will take part in an NHL style camp with professional coaches. This newly formed team will have a great opportunity to get noticed as they will be exposed to Junior and University scouts.River is a great example of player development from the Varsity and Midget Prep Program at CIHA. River, a 6’1 defenceman came to CIHA for the 2015/2016 season, playing for the Varsity team under Coach Alain Raymond. River showed great improvement throughout the season and was called up to play some games for Midget AAA. Praised for his coachability and dedication to improve by Coach Alain, River was a full-time defenceman for Midget Green AAA this season. River continues his upward trajectory as he looks to play a prominent role on the blueline at CIHA next season.
