BRENDAN BOYCE DRAFTED TO GUELPH OF THE ONTARIO HOCKEY LEAGUE
04/11/2019Congratulations to CIHA Green defenseman Brendan Boyce, who was drafted in the 2nd round, 33rd overall to the Guelph Storm in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) U18 Priority Selection.
It has been quite a memorable hockey season for Brendan, filled with a number of milestones and achievements and now capped off with being selected by Guelph.Brendan was among the top defensemen this season in Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO), leading his team in assists (35) and points (49). Brendan also scored 14 goals which was tops among HEO defensemen to go along with his league-leading 35 assists and 49 points. He also sign an Affiliate Player Contract with the Rockland Nationals Jr A team and played 5 games while picking up an assist.The OHL holds two annual drafts, the Priority Selection, where teams draft players that are in their first year of Midget hockey and the U18 draft, which allows for players to develop for another year or two and still have an opportunity to be drafted at ages 16-18.“We are extremely proud of Brendan and this is a well-deserved accomplishment after the incredible season that he had,” said Head Coach Alain Raymond. “Brendan plays and excels in all situations for our team and was a leader on and off the ice. His development over the last two seasons at CIHA has been incredible to see and we look forward to watching him continue his hockey career after he graduates this year”Brendan joins fellow student Ryan Remick who was also drafted by Guelph in the Priority Selection on April 6th.
