Congratulations to alumni Manix Landry, who was selected in the 5th round, 139th overall by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
Manix, a 5’11, 179 pound centre is a relentless two-way forward that never gives up on a play and is often the hardest worker on the ice.Manix was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, where his father Eric was playing professionally. They would move to Switzerland shortly after for Eric to continue his career while Manix got his first taste of minor hockey. After Eric’s career ended in 2012, they moved to Gatineau, Quebec where Eric is originally from. Manix continued playing in their minor hockey league and Eric became the assistant coach for the Gatineau Olympiques of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.In 2017-2018, Manix joined CIHA to play for U18 AAA White to continue his development and prepare for the QMJHL draft. Manix had a great season, putting up 19 points in 29 games and exploded in the playoffs for 12 points in 6 games.After his one season at CIHA, Manix was selected by the Gatineau Olympiques in the 3rd round, 39th overall, where his father Eric is their head coach.In his first season with Gatineau, Manix put up 10 points in 57 games while playing limited minutes. The following season, he broke out and quadrupled his output with 40 points in 59 games. This season, Manix took another massive step forward as he was named captain of the Olympiques. In the COVID-19 shortened season, he put up 23 points in 29 games and cemented himself as a legitimate NHL prospect.During his time with Gatineau, Manix continued his online education with Blyth Academy @CIHA and recently just graduated as a four-year grad with us. Manix also has a younger brother, Lukas, who just completed his second season at CIHA and was selected by the Drummondville Voltigeurs in the 4th round, 69th overall in the 2021 QMJHL Draft.We want to congratulate Manix once again on his achievement. His hard work, dedication and commitment to himself and the game has taken him to this level and will continue to elevate him to new heights. We can’t wait to see what Manix can become as he continues developing as a hockey player and young man.Manix joins fellow alumni Gabriel Vilardi (11th overall, 2017), Semyon Der-Arguchintsev (76th overall, 2018), Jasper Weatherby (102nd overall, 2018), Donovan Sebrango (63rd overall, 2020), and Dylan Peterson (86th overall, 2020) who have been drafted to the NHL.
