2020 MCLEOD CUP
12/22/2020As we enter into the holiday break, that means it’s time for the annual tradition of the McLeod Cup, an event that everyone circles on their calendars.
The McLeod Cup combines all participating staff and students into a pool and a live draft then takes place. A tournament style format is then played with a winning team being crowned at the end. A perfect way to let loose and see the lighter side of the students and staff before the holiday break. Usually several alumni attend as well but unfortunately we weren’t able to invite them this year. There would be 6 teams in total and about 40 participants in the tournament. The six goalies, who were team captains and drafted their teams were Kian Hodgins, Naomi Baechler, Remi Hay, Landry Laird, Tristan Falsetto, and Francis Plant.Once the teams were selected it was game on! The format would be 20 minute games at 4on4 inside the blue-line. Each team would play four games before being re-seeded and then the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals. While it was a friendly tournament, the competition was intense with the amount of highly skilled and competitive students and staff. In the end it was Team Falsetto vs Team Plant in the finals. They played an intense, competitive game but it would be Team Falsetto who came out on top, winning the McLeod Cup in a thrilling 5-4 victory. It was the perfect way to cap off the first two a half months of school by bringing the CIHA family together one last time in 2020 before for the holiday break!
