U18 Varsity Win Coco Lemay Tournament
10/15/2025Congratulations to the U18 Varsity boys who won their division at the Coco Lemay Tournament!
The path to top wasn’t an easy one but the boys fought through adversity and prevailed.
“This team didn’t just win a tournament—they showed what it means to show up for each other,” said Head Coach, Nicolas Roy. “When it mattered most, they leaned on trust, grit and the kind of support that turns teammates into family. That’s the heart of our program: compete hard, lift each other up and grow together. I’m proud of the result but even prouder of the way they got there.”
With a 1-1-1 record through the Round Robin, the boys had a quarter-final match up on Saturday night against their local rivals, the Clarence-Rockland Crush. After defeating them 3-1 in Round Robin play, the boys came out on top again with a 3-2 win.
After a good night’s sleep they were on to the semi-finals on Sunday against the GOB Blues. This one would be a nail biter as U18 Varsity won it in a shootout with a 3-2 victory. Finals here we come!
They would take on the top ranked and undefeated Ottawa Sting, who at this point had a record of 3-0-1 with a goal differential of +14. With a 2-1 lead and just over a minute left in the 3rd, the Sting would be awarded a penalty shot but goaltender Justin Sosa would stand tall in goal. The boys would add an empty netter 10 seconds later plus another 5on5 goal to seal the deal with a 4-1 win!
The three stars of the tournament were:
✩ Justin Sosa
✩✩ Kenshin Saito
✩✩✩ Jeremy Gagnon
U18 Varsity along with U16 Varsity are back in action at the Capital Volunteer Cup from October 24th-26th at the three Sensplex arenas in the Ottawa area.
