THREE ALUMNI SELECTED IN ONTARIO HOCKEY LEAGUE DRAFT
06/07/2021Congratulations to alumni Rylan Donovan, Daniel Johnson and Matthew Lee, who were all selected in the Ontario Hockey League Draft.
Rylan was drafted by the London Knights in the 6th round, 115th overall, Daniel was selected by the Hamilton Bulldogs in the 9th round, 173rd overall and Matthew Lee was taken with the next pick by the Niagara Ice Dogs in the 9th round, 174th overall.Rylan, a 5’11 goaltender from Richmond, Ontario played one season at CIHA in 2019-2020. He suited up as an underage player for U18 AAA Green and put up great numbers, posting an 11-5 record along with a 3.06 goals against average.This season, Rylan played exhibition games for Kemptville U18 AAA had a dominant showing, going 4-0 along with a 1.26 goals against average, a .975 save percentage and one shutout.Daniel, a 5’9 defenseman from Edgewood, Maryland played two seasons at CIHA from 2018-2020 both for U15 AAA. His first season for U15 AAA was as an underage player and he had a great season, contributing 17 points in 29 games. In his second season he showed tremendous improvement with 29 points in 28 games, and was second on the team with 14 goals while also being named an assistant captain. He was also called up to U18 AAA Green and played 17 games while adding 8 points.This season, Daniel played for the Chicago Young Americans and had a dominant season with 50 points in 57 games, good for 4th in team scoring.Daniel was also recently selected by the Youngstown Phantoms of the United States Hockey League. Matthew, a 5’9 forward from St. Catharines, Ontario played two seasons at CIHA from 2018-2020 both for U15 AAA. Matthew arrived partway through the season in 2018-2019 and put up 2 points in 6 games as an underage player for U15. The next season, Matthew was named captain of U15 AAA and led the team in goals (17) and points (35) in 29 games. He was also called up U18 AAA White and played in 11 games but was held off the scoresheet. This season, Matthew played for the Bishop Kearney Selects and was second in team scoring with 55 points in 50 games. Congratulations again to Rylan, Daniel and Matthew!
