KHL ALL-STAR GAME FEATURES CIHA CONNECTIONS

The Kontintental Hockey League All-Star Game, which took place on January 18th-19th in Moscow, Russia, featured Danis Zaripov, who is the father of current student Artur Zaripov and Bob Hartley, who is our Senior Hockey Advisor.
Danis, who has played professionally in Russia for 21 years participated in the All-Star game and Skills Competition over the weekend. Danis has 769 points in in 1014 games over his career and has won 5 Gagarin Cups (KHL Championship), a feat in which no other player in the world has accomplished. He currently plays for Ak Bars Kazan in the KHL and is the captain of his team.His son, Artur, has 23 points in 28 games for Midget Green in his first season at CIHA.Bob Hartley, a professional coach for nearly 30 years was the bench boss for Team Chernyshev at the All-Star Game. He is the currently in his 2nd season as head coach of Avangard Omsk in the KHL.Bob began his coaching career in what is now the Central Canada Hockey League before moving onto the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and then stepping into the pro ranks as head coach of the Cornwall Aces of the American Hockey League. Bob would go on to coach 14 seasons in the National Hockey League and one season in Switzerland, while also coaching the Latvian National Team for two years.Bob is currently the Senior Hockey Advisor at CIHA and has been instrumental in developing our hockey program since we opened our doors in 2011.
