Coach Alain Raymond Named to OHL Gold Cup Staff

Congratulations to CIH Green head coach Alain Raymond, who was named as an assistant coach for Team Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO) at the 2018 OHL Gold Cup. 
The OHL Gold Cup is an annual showcase of Ontario’s top U16 talent, and is used as an evaluation opportunity for Hockey Canada for the World U17 Hockey Challenge and beyond. The tournament features a total of 8 teams from the Greater Toronto Hockey League (2 teams), Ontario Minor Hockey Association (2 teams), Hockey Eastern Ontario, Alliance Hockey, Hockey Northwestern Ontario, and Northern Ontario Hockey Association. The tournament takes place May 2-6, 2018, in Kitchener, Ontario.Al brings a wealth of experience and a unique perspective to Team HEO with his impressive professional hockey ground and coaching career.Al played his junior hockey in Canada and was then drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in 1982, but went on to play professionally in Europe for 14 years before transitioning to coaching. Al began as an assistant coach with the Hull Olympiques of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and an assistant coach with Team Quebec U17 before coaching at the AAA level and becoming Program Director of Viking Youth Hockey in Chicago, Illinois for four years.In 2011, Al joined CIHA in our first year of operation and has been coaching Midget AAA and Prep ever since, as well as being the Player Development Coordinator. Al is also the Head Instructor at CIHA Summer Camps.Since 2014, Al has also been running hockey camps in Russia and assisting with recruiting efforts for CIHA.We want to wish Al the best of luck with Team HEO as he continues to add to his extensive hockey career!
