CIHA HOSTS RUSSIAN CAMP

06/29/2018

For four weeks (June 18th-July 13th), CIHA is hosting a number of hockey players from Russia, who are getting the full experience as an athlete at our facilities.
Each morning, the group wakes up in our dorms and heads to the cafeteria where our kitchen staff has breakfast prepared, as well as lunch and dinner throughout the day. They have two on-ice sessions with our coaches (Andre Savage, Alain Raymond, Francis Wathier, Travis Rycroft, and Ryan Lauzon), as well as an off-ice workout or dryland training with our Strength and Conditioning Coach, Alex Vaduva. Ottawa Senators Strength and Conditioning Coach Chris Schwarz will also be in to speak to the group.Another special guest to the group was Anvar Gatiyatulin, a former professional hockey player in Russia and current coach of SKA St. Petersburg in Russia’s top league, the Kontinental Hockey League. Anvar’s son, Ilya, is also attending the camp and was a student at CIHA for the past three years. You can read more about Ilya here. The camp also features several alumni, including Jake Jurgeneit (Navan Grads-CCHL), Dylan Peterson (USNTDP U17), Seva Losev (Ottawa 67’s, OHL), and many other former students.
