NPU AT CIHA
Hockey and education have been embedded in Northern Pre-University’s (NPU) DNA from the very beginning. Over the last decade, we have earned the trust of respected partners such as the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), NHLPA agents, and the NBA Academy. We are now proud to add CIH Academy to this distinguished group, providing students with the opportunity to become part of a growing global community of elite hockey players and performance athletes.
At NPU, we are committed to empowering learners through the development of autonomy and critical thinking. We encourage students to reach their highest academic potential by learning at a pace and within a structure that best supports their individual learning styles. In close collaboration with students and parents, NPU is dedicated to guiding all learners toward successfully completing the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
While NPU draws inspiration from a range of educational philosophers, Howard Gardner’s work remains central to our approach. We believe education should not be confined to a single theory or methodology. This flexible, non-traditional model has allowed us to customize and innovate within our campuses, decentralize course planning based on individual student needs, and reinforce the importance of belonging to a social group, a student body, and a broader community.
NPU is proud to foster an inclusive staff and student body where respect for cultural diversity and religious backgrounds is fundamental. We actively promote openness, mutual respect, and inclusivity across our entire school community.
