U18 Prep Win Kitchener Blueline Tournament

11/10/2025

Congratulations to U18 Prep who won their division at the Kitchener Blueline Tournament!

The boys put on a truly dominant performance this weekend and received contributions from the entire lineup.

“Three things really stood out for me in this tournament,” said Head Coach, Nick Ricca. “The biggest was our outstanding defensive play — our goaltending was excellent and we got timely goals from different players. It was a true team effort. You can see this group starting to build its identity and that’s exciting to watch.”

Friday’s round robin action brought a pair of games against Guelph Gryphons and Greater Kingston Jr. Gaels. They would win both of those by shutout by scores of 2-0 and 1-0 with goaltenders Jacob Kirstein and Jayden Pierre each shutting the door.

Saturday would bring a 3-1 win against the North Bay Trappers and a 12-0 blanking of the Brantford 99ers with Jayden Pierre picking up his second shutout in as many games.

The boys were a perfect 4-0 with an incredible +17 goal differential. That would be good for 1st place and send them into the semi-finals and a rematch against the Guelph Gryphons.

Down 1-0 with a minute left in the 3rd period and the goalie pulled, Jayden Charlish-Moar would tie things up and just 40 seconds later, Ricky Deslauriers would tuck one behind the goalie to complete the incredible late game comeback!

The finals would bring on the Huron-Perth Lakers who were also a perfect 4-0 in the round robin and the 2nd seeded team.

The boys would build a 3-0 lead but with 5 minutes left in the 3rd, the Lakers would score two quick goals to make things interesting. The boys would shut things down from there on out and secure the victory, capping off a dominant weekend and a well-deserved Gold medal!

Goaltenders Jacob Kirstein and Jayden Pierre were rock solid all weekend long, each going 3-0 with a 0.67 goals against average. Jayden had two shutouts while Jacob had one.

We also provided the top two point getters with Ricky Deslauriers leading the way with 10 and Andrei Chumakov with 8. Ricky also led all goal scorers with 7 goals.

The three stars of the tournament were:

 Jacob Kirstein/Jayden Pierre (G)

✩✩✩ Tucker Clare (D)

U18 Prep along with U16 Prep will be back in action from December 12th-14th at the Gold Puck Tournament in Waterloo, Ontario.
