Alum Jacksons Parsons Awarded CHL Goaltender of the Year
06/17/2025This past weekend, CIHA Alum Jackson Parsons of the Kitchener Rangers (OHL) was awarded the Canadian Hockey Leagues Goalie of the Year award.
This award is voted on by members of the NHL’s Central Scouting group. Parsons attended CIHA during the 2018-19 season playing for our U15 AAA team and led that group both on and off the ice. “This young man exudes every quality that a coach and an organization would want on their team” said Coach Rycroft after that season. Selected in the 3rd round of the 2020 OHL Priority Draft, Parsons’ would soon join the Kitchener Rangers and immediately made an impact on his new squad.
This season, Parsons took another step as he was the backbone of a Rangers squad that recorded its fourth ever 100 point season. Jackson led the CHL with 37 wins and recorded a 2.24 GAA and a .920 save percentage. Jackson was named to the OHL’s 1st Team All Stars and was the recipient of the OHL’s Goalie of the Year and their Overage Player of the Year awards.
Earlier this year Parsons became the first OHL Player to commit to the NCAA after the rule change that allowed CHL players to be eligible to play in those hockey programs. Heading to Clarkson University in the fall, Jackson said this in anticipation; “Such a cool feeling, especially being able to call myself a Golden Knight for Clarkson. It’s an awesome feeling. I’m excited to see what the future holds.”
Congratulations Jackson and all the best at Clarkson this upcoming season!
