As we enter into the holiday break, that means it’s time for the annual tradition of the McLeod Cup, an event that everyone circles on their calendars.
The McLeod Cup features staff and remaining students in a fun, but always competitive tournament. Usually all participants are pooled together and the teams are drafted by the goalies, but this year we had a little twist with an All-Staff team along with students Manny Gendron and goaltender Daniel McGowan. The other three goalies; Remi Hay, Valentino Harson and Luka Gelinas then drafted their teams and the games were on!Each team would play three games with a 25 minute time limit and then they would be re-seeded for the semi-finals.The All-Staff team would advance to the finals after taking out Team Gelinas, and Team Hay would also advance after a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory against Team Harson.The finals was a hard fought game that came right down to the wire with the All-Staff team coming out on top with a 3-2 victory over Team Hay.It was the perfect way to cap off the first three and a half months of school by bringing the CIHA family together one last time in 2021 before for the holiday break! Check out our Facebook page for more pictures.
