Congratulations to Gabriel Vilardi on being drafted to the NHL, and becoming the Canadian International Hockey Academy’s first ever NHL selection. He was selected in the 1st Round, 11th overall by the Los Angeles Kings.
Last night the Canadian Hockey League held its annual top prospect game featuring 40 of the top eligible draft prospects selected by NHL Teams. Gabriel Vilardi, CIHA alumni, made a splash in the game scoring a pivotal goal at 4-4 to lead Team Cherry to a 7-5 victory over Team Orr.
In a very high scoring game, Vilardi led his team with six shots on net and demonstrated why he is currently ranked in the top 5 on the NHL Scouting List.
We are very proud to see his progression and can't wait to continue following his future career.
This past weekend Dylan Peterson, Jayden Baptiste and Donovan Sebrango played for team red at the HEO Bantam AAA All-Star game. All three played great and Dylan grabbed two assists. Travis Rycroft, the CIHA Bantam Head Coach, was behind the bench.
The Ontario Hockey League (OHL) has added a second component to its Priority Selection draft this April. The OHL draft will now include a U-18 draft on April 12th. This second draft allows players who grow and develop a little later to be drafted in their senior year of Midget. This year teams will have four rounds to select players born in 2000 or 1999. This is a great opportunity for CIHA’s senior players, who benefited from additional training and exposure, to be get drafted to the OHL.
At CIHA, we recognize that players develop differently and work closely with them to ensure they reach their full potential.
CIH Academy would like to congratulate Donovan Sebrango, Dylan Peterson and Jayden Baptiste for being named to the HEO AAA League Bantam All-Star Game. The game will be held on January 22nd at the Richcraft Sensplex from 4:45 -6:15 pm.
CIH Academy would like to congratulate Edward Bradley on making the Great Britain's U18 National Team. He will be heading to Korea in April to participate in the IIHF World Championship tournament along with CIHA alumni James Hounsome and Cameron Pound.
