Bantam Tournament – Gatineau, Quebec
After finishing their season less than a week ago, the Bantam’s were back on the ice for a tournament in nearby Gatineau, Quebec.
The boys would fall in their first two games by scores of 6-3 and 5-1 on Thursday and Friday and needed a win on Saturday to advance. The boys would come up just short, falling 2-1 and ending their weekend prematurely.
Captain Mathieu Fehr and Igor Zborovskiy led the way with 3 points each, while Kieran Chung and Amine Hajibi chipped in with two points each.
Midget White + Green – CSSHL Eastern Canada Showcase
Midget White and Green continued a busy month of February with a weekend showcase with the CSSHL in addition to their league games.
Midget Green (5)
Midget Green runs their win streak to 4 games as Viktor Tiatinkin stopped 19 shots and Slava Melikov, Ivan Landyshev, Nikita Tiatinkin, and Brendan Boyce chipped in with 2 point games.
Midget White (2)
On the backs of a great game by goaltender Michael Lenhart who made 31 saves, the teams had a scoreless 3rd period and the game ended in a tie. Thomas Odermatt and Ryan Remick had the goals in this one.
Midget Green (2)
Midget Green played to a tie on the backs of twin brothers Nikita, who scored both goals and Viktor who made 21 saves in goal.
Midget White (3)
Midget White played to a tie for their 2nd game in a row, as Edward Bradley chipped in with two goals and Patrick Maule added two assists, while Charlie Duncan was solid in goal making 32 saves.
The High-School boys were back on the ice to take on a local team, the L’Escale Cougars. The boys played great in this one and came out with the win. Goals were scored by David Swanson and Evgenii Kurov, while call-ups Marcus Krats and Matthew Lee also chipped in. Alex Cloutier was in goal for the win.
Midget Green (0)
Goaltender Viktor Tiatinkin gave his team a chance in this one, allowing one goal on 25 shots but Green couldn’t muster any offensive support.
Midget White (2)
Midget White nearly pulled off a 3rd period comeback against a top team in Ottawa but they just came up short. Nicloas Odermatt and Patrick Maule were your goal scorers in this one.
Midget Green (5)
It was a tale of two teams in this one as Green built a 3 goal lead in the 1st period, only to see it evaporate and after the 2nd. Alex Smedley replaced Viktor Tiatinkin to start the 3rd and shut the door, picking up the win after Colin Callanan scored the game winner. Congratulations to Daniil Sayamov who picked up his 1st point at the Midget AAA level!
Midget White (1)
Captain Edward Bradley would score his team’s only goal in White’s last game of the regular season as they fall to Nepean.
Midget White will now play OHA Gold in a one game playoff qualifier to see who plays Midget Green in the next round.
Midget Green (3)
Midget Green mounted a furious comeback in the 3rd period to tie the game, but ultimately gave up two late goals to take the loss. Goals were scored by Ilnar Fakhrutdinov, Brody Chatman and Brendan Boyce. Brendan also chipped in with an assist and finished the season as the top scoring defender, leading in goals (14), assists (35) and points (49) and finishing 18th in scoring among all skaters. He also set the record for the highest scoring season by a defenseman at CIHA!
Midget Green will now face the winner of Midget White and OHA Gold to see who advances to the next round.
In a rematch from last week, the High-School boys made it known that they were all business in this one. Ryder Sheridan (1g, 2a) and Zach Scholar (2a) had strong games while call-up Matthew Lee added 4 goals. Alex Cloutier was in nets for the win.
