At CIH Academy, all of our head coaches have considerable experience playing and coaching hockey. From minor hockey to the pros, our coaches have learned to nurture and grow their athletes. Andre Savage

With extensive experience in the NHL, AHL, NCAA, DEL Germany, and Swedish Elite league, André brings a wealth of practical knowledge to the CIHA coaching staff. André joined CIHA in 2012 and is currently the Hockey Director and Head Coach for the Voyageurs Midget AAA White team. He brings a winning attitude and demonstrates true leadership. His focus on the development and attention to details brings out the best in the young hockey players both on and off the ice.

Alain Raymond continues to build on his impressive resume as a hockey educator. Prior to joining CIH Academy, Alain worked with the Hull Olympiques and the Team Quebec U-17 Program who finished 4th at the 2001 World Championships. Alain also spent time as the Program Director and Head Coach of a successful Major Midget organization in Chicago. Alain’s playing career has taken him from the CJHL and OHL where he was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in 1982 to a lengthy career in Europe where he earned accolades such as capturing a World Championship for the Dutch National Team in 1999.

After retiring from professional hockey, Travis decided to follow his lifelong dream of becoming an educator. Travis is honored to the join the team at the Canadian International Hockey Academy where he can combine his passion for education and hockey. He knows from his own personal experience that hockey can be instrumental in fostering the skills needed for a student to reach their academic potential. Character and work ethic are what he values the most as both a coach and educator. He recognizes that each student has a unique skill set and learning curve and is committed to helping each student-athlete recognize and reach their potential by creating an environment on and off the ice where we work as a team and encourage and help one another. After all, education, like hockey, is a team sport.

Corey Cowick

Corey comes to the CIH Academy after just completing a 7 year professional hockey career. No stranger to the Ottawa area, Corey played his minor hockey for the Gloucester Rangers before moving onto the Ottawa 67s and eventually being drafted by the Ottawa Senators in 2009. Having played a variety of roles throughout his career, Corey can look to his experiences to relate to players in almost every situation. Corey is excited to apply the same passion and work ethic that brought him success as a player into coaching.

Prior to joining CIHA, Ryan was an Assistant Coach for Ottawa University Men's Hockey Team, a scout for 2 years for the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL and 2 years with Top Draft Sports Management in Ottawa. 
 
Ryan brings a wealth of knowledge and a unique perspective on the game due to his scouting background. His experience will allow him to develop our student-athletes and pinpoint exactly what it takes to make it to the next level.

Francis Wathier is a recently retired professional hockey player. He comes to the academy after a productive hockey career that led him from the QMJHL to the AHL and NHL. As the Defensive Specialist and Power Skating Coach, Frank will be teaching all the academy players the attention to detail and work ethic to take the next steps in their hockey development. He has honed his skills as a coach over the past eight years of running a skills and skating academy for local athletes from the age of 4 to junior age players. With an open door policy, Frank is excited to for the opportunity to connect with CIHA students. He will also be living in the dorms with his wife Isabel, the Head House Parent, and their three children.

Andrew Mercer

Head Goalie Coach

Andrew Mercer has over 20 years of experience coaching goalies at all levels, from beginners to pros. Through his own goaltending school, Andrew Mercer Hockey Development (AMHD), he has shared his expertise and infectious passion with generations of goalies from Nova Scotia to Ottawa, and through the rest of Canada, parts of the U.S. and in Europe.
In 2006, he was invited to join the Goaltending Consultant Group, which is comprised of select top goalie coaches from Canada and the U.S. Together; they work with elite goaltenders, including NCAA, Major Junior, Pro and NHL. Never satisfied with status quo, AMHD expanded its operations to Europe to study the European style of goaltending and run goalie camps in Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Andrew is proud to have guided the development and experienced the success of some of his own students reaching top pro ranks in the NHL, AHL, ECHL and KHL. Andrew is also the current goalie coach for Clarkson University.

Alex Vaduva, B.Sc., CSCS

Strength and Conditioning Coach

Alex graduated with Honours from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Science and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). With extensive knowledge and experience working in sports performance and rehabilitation, Alex has had the opportunity to work with amateur athletes (CIS, NCAA, CHL) and professional athletes (NHL, AHL). He has worked with the Volleyball Canada Center of Excellence (Ottawa location), and the Dalhousie University Men’s Volleyball Team.

Marie-Pierre Néron B.Sc., CAT(C)

Athletic Therapist 
 
Marie-Pierre graduated with distinction from Concordia University in Montreal QC, with a Bachelor in exercise science and a specialization in Athletic Therapy. She is a certified athletic therapist member of CATA (Canadian Athletic Therapists Association). Marie-Pierre is also a Sport First Responder trained in emergency care. She has had the opportunity to work at University Level among McGill University football team and recently travelled with McGill Men’s Basketball Team to Costa Rica for exhibition games against the United States NCAA Division I. She gained extensive knowledge and experience in hockey working along the Men’s Collegiate AAA Team from Dawson College. 
I loved my time at CIH Academy and am very grateful for the coaches and hard work ethic I learned there. The development and time spent working on my individual skills has allowed me to reach my goals.
