Nutrition

Nutrition is an important part of our hockey training program—to perform at an elite level, the human body needs the right kind of fuel.
 
CIH Academy features a fully equipped cafeteria that serves tasty and nutritious meals three times a day. Our food services staff offers a variety of healthy, balanced meals using Hockey Canada's recommended menu to meet our athletes’ needs. Our residence has a kitchenette where students can prepare snacks outside of mealtimes. Our Fitness Centre and Hockey Training facility also stock healthy post-workout snacks for all athletes.

Our food services staff ensures that our athletes enjoy a variety of quality meals throughout the year, including thematic and seasonal menus: Halloween, Christmas, St. Patrick's Day, Easter and even the NHL Playoffs! We also invite athletes to share and prepare recipes from home with our staff as a fun learning experience for all.

  • Monday

    Breakfast: Fresh fruit, hard-boiled eggs, oatmeal, healthy cereals, multigrain toast and bagels, yogurt, cottage cheese, ham and cheese omelettes
     
    Lunch: Homemade personal chicken pot pies with whipped roasted garlic potatoes and steamed green peas
     
    Dinner: AAA NY Striploin with roasted herbed baby red potatoes and Vichy carrots
  • Tuesday

    Breakfast: fresh fruit, hard-boiled eggs, oatmeal, healthy cereals, multigrain toast and bagels, yogurt, cottage cheese, over easy eggs and French toast
     
    Lunch: Three cheese tortellini in a creamy roasted red pepper cream sauce with spiced Italian sausage, spinach and garnished with Parmigiano-Reggiano.
     
    Dinner: Pork tenderloin marinated in soy, sesame and ginger slow roasted and served with teriyaki glazed broccoli and spiced Cantonese noodles.
     
  • Wednesday

    Breakfast: Fresh fruit, hard-boiled eggs, oatmeal, healthy cereals, multigrain toast and bagels, yogurt, cottage cheese and breakfast burritos
     
    Lunch: Slow roasted butter chicken with coconut infused basmati rice served with warm naan.
     
    Dinner: Classic pasta Bolognese served with roasted garlic and herbed dinner roll.
  • Thursday

    Breakfast: Fresh fruit, hard-boiled eggs, oatmeal, healthy cereals, multigrain toast and bagels, yogurt, cottage cheese, steak and eggs
     
    Lunch: Roasted turkey paninis with bacon, swiss cheese, basil pesto aioli and a side of warm chickpea salad
     
    Dinner: Marinated stuffed chicken breast wrapped in prosciutto topped with a sundried tomato pesto cream sauce, served with gnocchi and crisp green beans.
  • Friday

    Breakfast: Fresh fruit, hard-boiled eggs, oatmeal, healthy cereals, multigrain toast and bagels, yogurt, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs with herbed cream cheese
     
    Lunch: AAA Angus grilled flank steak Caesar salad with crisp baguette, smoked bacon and creamy dressing.
     
    Dinner: Fresh Atlantic salmon baked and topped with a maple Dijon glaze accompanied by potato latke and bacon wrapped asparagus
  • Saturday & Sunday

    Brunch: In addition to our continental breakfast, we serve a hot brunch between 10:30am and noon. Students may enjoy:scrambled eggs, waffles, pancakes, French toast, beans, bacon, ham, sausage, home fries, and muffins.
