Current Student Luca Erne Signs Professional Contract in Austria
Congratulations to Luca Erne, who has signed a professional contract with VEU Feldkirch of the Alps Hockey League based in Central Europe.
Luca, who was in his 2nd year at CIHA was offered an opportunity to advance his hockey career in his home country while he continues his studies virtually with Blyth@CIHA.
The Alps Hockey League has teams in Austria, Italy and Slovenia and is the 2nd highest division in Austria.
Luca, a 6’3 defenseman had a great rookie year in 2019-2020 for Midget Green in Hockey Eastern Ontario. He scored 10 goals and added 21 assists, both tops among rookie defensemen and finished tied for 2nd in total points for all defensemen.
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, there have not been any games this year, but Luca, along with the rest of our students have been practicing and doing off-ice workouts daily and scrimmaging twice a week when permitted.
