Weekly Wrap-Up - Week 23

The weekly wrap-up summarizes each game over the past week and looks ahead to future games.
February 6th

Midget White (9)
OHA Maroon (3)

White owned this game from start to finish, doubling OHA in shots with a count of 38-19. Gion Coray led the way with 4 points, while Andrei Svalov, Ilnar Fakhtrutdinov, Kyle Gonazlez, and Spencer Beloff each had 3 points. Eric Villeneuve picked up the win in nets.

Midget Green (6)
OHA Gold (3)

Despite the short bench, Green rolled over OHA led by Nicolas Pigeon and his hat-trick. Georgy Korneev picked up 3 assists while Rylan Donovan stopped 27 shots for the win.

Midget AA (1) Playoffs
Ottawa Sting (3)

Playing in game 1 of their playoff series vs the Sting, Alec Vachon would get his team on the board with a power-play goal in the 1st period but that would be all the offense the AA’s could get in this one.

February 7th

Midget AA (3) Playoffs
Ottawa Sting (4)

Game 2 would see the AA’s get on the board first once again thanks to Bantam call-up Yanik Major. Early in the 3rd with the AA’s down 4-2, Ryder Sheridan would score a power-play goal to bring his team within one but that would be as close as they get.

February 8th

Midget Green (5)
Ottawa (0)

Facing off against the top team in HEO, Midget Green proved they belong with the big boys as they chased the Ottawa goaltender midway through the 2nd period. Slava Melikov led the way with 5 points while Nikita Tiatinkin and Luca Erne each scored two. Viktor Tiatinkin stopped 23 shots for the shutout.

Midget White (4)
Smiths Falls (8)

Ernests Berzins would get White on the board early in the 1st period and then it was a goal-fest in the 2nd period as the team’s combined for 7 goals with Smiths Falls leading 5-3. It wasn’t much better in the 3rd as White takes the loss here.

Bantam (2)
Ottawa Myers (4)

Tied at 2-2 heading into the 3rd period, the Bantam’s would surrender the only two goals as they lose a hard fought game.

February 9th

Midget Green (4) SO
Kanata (3)

Slava Melikov added two points while Artur Zaripov and Nikita Tiatinkin scored in the shootout as Green takes down another top HEO team for their 5th win in a row. Viktor Tiatinkin stopped 29 shots in the win.

Midget AA (2) Playoffs
Ottawa Sting (5)

It was do or die for the AA’s as they had to win to keep the playoff series alive. Tough start to the game as the Sting would jump out to a 3-0 lead. Daniil Sayamov would score midway through the 3rd period but it would be too late to mount a comeback.

Despite an up and down season with plenty of injury trouble and some nights icing a very short bench, these boys finished strong and played some of their best hockey in the playoffs.

Midget White (1)
Kemptville (4)

With only 11 players on the bench, White gave it their all but would run out of gas in this one. Ilnar Fakhrutdinov scored his team’s lone goal in the loss.

February 10th

Midget Green (2) SO
Smiths Falls (3)

Another shootout for Green but they were on the losing end this time. Nicolas Pigeon and Nikita Tiatinkin were your goal-scorers while Rylan Donovan was strong in goal, stopping 28 shots in the loss.

February 11th

Bantam (5)
Ottawa Valley (5)

An entertaining game for the fans but not so much for the coaches as the teams traded goals all game. The Bantam’s battled back from down two goals twice and tied it for good midway through the 3rd period with Dylan Reynold’s (2g) goal.
