Weekly Wrap-Up - Week 11

The weekly wrap-up summarizes each game over the past week and looks ahead to future games.
November 7th

Bantam (5)
Ottawa Valley (7)

This was definitely not a coach’s ideal game, but for sure a fun one to watch! Back and forth they went but Ottawa Valley managed to pull away midway through the 3rd period. Matthew Lee, Daniel Johnson and Alex Boileau all chipped in with 2 points in the loss.

November 8th-10th

Prep Showcase (CSSHL) – Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

In the very early morning hours on November 7th, 16 sleepy boys boarded the bus with their pillows ready for the cross-country trek to Prince Edward Island. Approximately 14 hours and three provinces later the team arrived, and after a full night’s sleep they would be ready to hit the ice on the 8th.

Still without a win through their first 5 CSSHL games, the boys would be looking to turn things around on the Island.

First up was a game against Okanagan where the boys fought hard but fell 6-4 with a late empty-netter. Saturday brought a double-header with Hill U18 up first where the boys didn’t fare to well, losing 6-1. Mount U16 was later in the day where the boys came back from a 0-3 deficit to tie the game but lost in overtime. Their final game came on Sunday morning vs Kings-Edgehill U18. Tied at 2 heading into the 3rd period, the boys exploded for 5 goals to win this game 7-3 and pick up their first win in the CSSHL! Huge mention to Titus Odermatt (3g, 3a) and Darius Mamianskum (1g, 3a) who propelled the boys to victory.

November 8th-10th

Midget AA Tournament – Ottawa, Ontario

The AA boys were back in tournament mode as they headed to Ottawa early Friday morning to kick off the tournament with a double-header.

First up was the Brampton 45’s, where the boys got shutout 3-0. Later that evening came the St. Albert Royals where the boys did a 180 and dominated, winning this one 7-3. Bantam call-up Timur Kadirov led the way with 4 goals in the game. Saturday brought another pair of games but the boys didn’t fare too well in either of them, falling 5-0 to Oshawa and 6-0 to Peterborough.

While the score didn’t reflect the team’s play, coach Markus is happy with the progress of his team as the boys continue to come together as a team.

November 10th

Midget Green (3)
Pembroke (2)

With 5 minutes left in the 3rd, Slava Melikov made it 3-2 but Green would be unable to score the tying goal. Nic Pigeon scored his team’s other goal in the loss.

Midget White (3)
Hawkesbury (2)

Down 2-1 heading into the 3rd period, Gion Coray and Ilnar Fakhrutdinov scored to lead White to victory. Francis Plant made 23 saves to pick up the win in goal.

November 12th

Midget AA (1)
Seaway Valley (5)

Alec Vachon would get the AA’s on the board first, but that was all the offense they could muster in this penalty–filled affair.
