Bantam Tournament – Ottawa
After a week and a half of practice, the Bantam’s were eager to hit the ice for some game action! They would board the bus on Friday afternoon as they began a weekend tournament in Ottawa.
Friday came and went with two games and two close losses. They fell 7-4 to the Oshawa Generals and 3-1 to the North Bay Trappers. Saturday began with a thrilling last minute tying goal by Teito Ishigaki for a 3-3 final against league rivals Ottawa Valley Titans. The boys would face the Central Ontario Wolves in a must win game but would come up short, falling 2-0.
While they didn’t bring home any hardware, Coach Ryan was very proud of his team’s effort over the weekend and believed they could’ve won any of the games with a bounce or two their way. This is a great group of guys and we look forward to cheering them on the rest of the season.
Midget White scored 2 first period goals to set the tone and peppered the Cornwall goalie with 40 shots in their victory. Kieran Chung, Aidan Moreau and Andrei Svalov were your goal scorers while Eric Villeneuve made 27 saves.
Goaltender Francis Plant stole the show in this one, making 33 saves to lead his team to victory. Ernests Berzins, Rylan Neeposh, Ilnar Fakhrutdinov, and Anthony Fulginiti scored the goals while Andrei Svalov chipped in with 2 assists.
This one was dominated by Midget Green from start to finish, with Artur Zarpov getting his team on the board on the first shift. Nicolas Pigeon (2g, 2a) had a big game, while Damien Ledermann (1g, 1a) and Nikita Tiatinkin (1a, 1a) added two points each. Rylan Donovan was strong in goal making 24 saves.
